When the water pump bearing started making noise, it was just a matter of time before coolant leaked all over the place. For $50 I replaced the water pump on this old Dodge Dakota. |

When the heat stopped working, we discovered the problem was a broken plastic "flapper" buried deep inside the dash. The repair involved removing almost the entire dashboard. It was a long job, but not difficult.

This 1996 GMC Yukon wouldn't start whenever the weather was damp and the engine was cold. Warming up the distributor cap with a heat gun would get the engine to start, but the proper fix was to just replace the work-out distributor cap and rotor. |

Automotive Electrical:
When the AC / heater blower works only on a few speeds, the problem is NOT in the switch, it's not even behind the dashboard... it's in the speed-reducing blower motor resistor in the engine compartment. It's a cheap and easy fix. |

Changing ATF is just as important as changing your engine oil... the only difference is the service interval.
Transmission service isn't difficult: Just drop the pan, swap the filter, install the pan with a new gasket and add new fluid. But read the whole story first... |
